Ek bohot hi chotti si love story…

It was festive season and all the trains and buses were crowded like hell as usual. I was on my way back from college. I was late as I was busy with my annual day rehearsals. It was almost 7 pm and I had to reach Kalyan all the way!!! I decided to go by bus. I went to Borivali ST stand.

As soon as i reached bus stand, I realized I made a big mistake by coming to college during this season. There was a huge queue at the stand. And there were no buses. As soon as a bus arrived, these uncivilized creatures with no social etiquettes broke all queues and started running towards the bus. I am a disciplined fellow, only for disciplined people. I, who was standing almost at the end of the queue, was one among the very few standing there, who managed to sneak inside the bus and also conquer a window seat.

The bus was fully loaded within few more seconds. There were people shouting and screaming, children were crying at their highest octave. People, especially women were all well dressed and struggling to hold their heavy dresses with all crystal work and handwork on it. I found a very pretty, young lady in her 20’s, struggling hard to stand properly. I had already noticed her while I was in the queue. Boys have this great ability to spot pretty girls wherever they go and no matter how huge the crowd is, they will certainly be triggered by the shooter... She was wearing a cherry red sari and had a whole lot of crystal work on it. She was standing near my seat and person next to me was in his 60’s. For a while I felt like asking that fellow to stand and offer her a seat. But, then I thought if that could prove fatal.

She saw me staring at her. Sometimes I wonder how these girls get to know what’s going on inside our mind and how do they come to know if we have had fallen for them??? Almost all the beautiful girls I have come across have this inborn talent of using their god-gifted beauty for getting their things done. The very next moment she smiled at me and asked “can you keep my baggage there on your lap?”  I was frozen for a while and was expressionless. I never thought if she being so beautiful was ever interested in striking a conversation with me. I was on cloud nine.

I said “yep! Why not!!! My pleasure” she kept her huge bag on my lap and said “thank you so very much”
.
She was struggling to stand still, as the bus had already started with its journey. People were falling on her and I could see her frustration on her face. I, being a gentle man, cannot see BEAUTIFUL WOMEN suffer. I went a step ahead and asked her “do you want to sit here?” the gentle man next to me looked at me amused, as by the time he was sure that we both don’t know each other. And girls never deny these kind of offers. She smiled and thanked me 3 times and that was enough for me to stand for 3 more hours without food and water though the journey was only of 1 hr. I was all charged up and I felt really great about my gesture and mannerism.

Throughout the journey we both shared many glances with each other. I was in love with her. She smiled looking outside the window and her small dimple was visible on the dull and dim yellow lights. I hated these dull lights which they put inside the ST bus. I always felt they made the condition inside the bus much more miserable adding some more trouble apart from the shabby crowd. But, I loved those lights for the first (and probably for the last time) in my life.

After sometime, the gentleman sitting next to her stood up. He had to get down at the very next stop. I was really happy thinking about the next 20 mins that I can spend with her. I decided to speak to her and was well prepared about the topics to start with. As I was about to sit, she asked me to stop. I was surprised and was clueless about what was about to happen.

She stood up. Keeping her baggage on the hot seat next to her and shouted some name waiving her hand up in the air. Within few seconds a hunk, much taller and fairer than me came through the crowd and she asked him to sit there. Yes, she had a boyfriend that too much better than me. But, I still wonder how she can offer him a seat and not me!!! I was all disappointed and that day I decided not to help any women, especially the beautiful one ever again in my life…
