ADVENTURES OF SAVIO...
Lemme give you all a short introduction of this great personality and a great friend of mine… Mr. Savio Pereira. He has his own list of adventures to his record and I am sure that he definitely can manage to write a whole book to his title some day... Speaking about Savio, he was the most innocent boy in our group of (and the problem is he still continues to remain the same…!!!) We were a group of 6-7 boys, all of us notorious and mischievous in our own ways... There was Sheldon, Paras, Haresh, Tejas, Nikhil, and ME of course! Savio was the most silent person in the group and silent people can hardly be the topic of discussion unlike in this case, where most of the funny incidents are some or the other way connected to Savio. He was the richest in our group and he always had money in his wallet... and that too a little more than required, at least for a boy of his age... and to be honest, I’d like to confess that we as a group had exploited him in many ways at many occasions.
Once upon a time when we were in HSC… me, Sheldon and Savio were desperately hungry to have some pav bhaji… the best place which serves pav bhaji in kandivali is at Bhagavathy hotel. This place is very famous for its pav bhaji and its open till 4 am … this restaurant was a bit far from our place… I had Rs.30 with me and Sheldon had around 150, we were not at all worried about how much Savio carried with him... As I told you earlier, he was our credit card. We all were very well dressed, we had latest gadgets with us… latest mobile phones, headsets and everything was perfect for us to appear rich… we took a rickshaw from our place to Bhagavathy hotel… I paid Rs.15 from my reserves to Rickshaw wala...
We went on to the table and took the menu card with pride. And we were quite rude to the waiter at our table…
“Ek kaam karo… 3 cheese pav bhaji and 4 pav extra leke aao…” Sheldon said in a commanding way...
He went inside and within a span of seconds came steaming hot bhaji with pav that were fully dipped in butter… and there were also slices of onion and lime in a small plate. As soon as waiter served pav bhaji our mouth started watering even before we actually had them… (I am pretty sure that your mouth too must have started watering after reading this one!!!)… We had food like animals… or refugees starving since days…. In between i called the waiter … and said
And as he was about to get it for us Savio too ordered…
“Aur han sun… ek piece lime bhi le aana”
We had all that was there on the table and after that we also ordered some coke and water… everything was done. We all were full and now it was time for us to pay… the bill amounted to Rs.253
“Kitna hai tere paas?” Sheldon asked me.
“15” I proudly declared…
“Okay… mere pas 150 hai… Savio chal cash nikaal”
Sheldon and I, both were very confident that Savio had money with him. We were almost dead to find Savio take out Rs.50 and hear him say
“mere pas 50 hai”
“ abbey haram khor…. Baaki nikaal” Sheldon was not at all in a mood to joke this time.
“ arre sach main mere pas itna hi hai… tum logom ne bola nahi ki cash lena hai”
We were in trouble… some how we all managed to collect Rs.249 including the coins, all our reserves and surpluses… we went on to the cashier's desk to convince him and told in the best possible way
“Uncle… actually hamare pas 4 rupaiye kam gir raha hai!!! Kya hum kal aakar de denge to nahi chalega?”
The gentle man at the desk looked at us as if we were some well dressed beggars… he somehow understood our situation and allowed us to leave… I still remember the way we kicked Savio on our way back home…
